Omnivore's Dillema

Although I am a conservative, I strongly believe that the American food industry needs drastic reform. Michael Pollan has reinforced my convictions.

The United States will be the bread basket of the world. Just as most of the world relies on Middle East oil, I believe that the world will soon rely on the US for grain. Genetically altered corn and depleted soil will not help America become the world supplier of grain. We need to return to the basics of farming. The current economic conditions are an opportunity for entrepreneurs to enter into the field of agriculture and revamp it. The organic sensation is an excellent example of entrepreneurial success.

Reforms should be driven by private companies, not the US government.
